100 Book Challenge
The
100 Book Challenge is a framework for inspiring, monitoring and rewarding
student empowerment in reading achievement. It was designed to provide the
systematic social and instructional supports children require to develop
successful reading (learning) lifestyle, we must fundamentally re-think existing
systems for book access, student engagement, parent involvement and teacher
learning.
The 100 Book
Challenge program provides the following:

On-going assessment to
fit the right books with the right child. |
 |
An expansive core
library of books that have been carefully read, analyzed, leveled, and
tested with children and teachers - and which can be easily, promptly and
economically ordered |
 |
A support system which
provides teachers with the hands on coaching they need to establish their
classroom libraries, help children select. appropriate books, instill in
their children a love of reading, and give direct instruction to children
during their independent reading. |
 |
An evaluation system
that keeps accounts/track of the numbers of books read, and the gains in
literacy. |
