November Highlights:
November Breezes By... The school year just breezes by so swiftly and one thing just bumps into the next, and so on and so forth. It is very much like leaves in the wind. Thank you for your ongoing support of the teachers, the PTO and our school. I wish to encourage you again to make sure that kids come to school on each day that they are healthy and able. November has many days off from school and children cannot afford to miss extra time. Family vacations in November can pose a serious problem for kids trying to keep up with school work, homework, tests and assessments. Either you have signed up for November parent-teacher conferences or you will be invited very soon. Please make every effort to come to the conference on time and ready with your thoughts and questions. Teachers have a good sense of the strengths and needs of the children and thy need your support and input. On November 15 and 16 we will have parent visitation for American Education Week. You will be receiving a brochure that identifies the days and times that you may visit. Fore these two days, we ask that you visit at the times designated. If you cannot make it, and would like to visit on another day, you will need to arrange that through me. Please remember that young children must be cared for a home and not come to school for visitation. Please note that we will have our Schweitzer night at Barnes and Noble on Tuesday evening, November 14.
A word about school security Please keep in mind that our school doors are locked at 9:15 AM. Entry must be from the front door using the buzzer. Children do go outdoors for recess on each day the the weather permits. School doors open again at 3:35 PM for dismissal. We also have several security drills that we practice regularly including: fire drill evacuation, shelter in place, Code Red and Code Blue. These drills are designed to maximize our safety in the event of an emergency. Different emergencies require different responses. Our school also has a Building Emergency Response Team that meets at least once a month to discuss and evaluate safety issues and our responses to them.
On Friday, November 17, 2006 we will be having our Annual Football Game Classic Faculty Fade-outs vs. 5th Grade Invincibles!! Game Time is 1:45 PM
