Important Information for
Parents of Third, Fourth and Fifth Graders
Our third, fourth and fifth grade students will
be taking the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA). This
assessment is given to students in Pennsylvania.. The purposes of this statewide assessment are:

To determine achievement levels of all students
in the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. |

To provide assessment results to school districts
for consideration in the development of strategic plans. |
 |
To provide information to state policymakers
about student achievement and the performance of schools in the Commonwealth. |
 |
To focus the direction of educators by sharing
assessment results and providing widespread in-service on the assessment
techniques used in the PSSA. |

To provide information to the general public
about school achievement on the PSSA. |
